A Family Business with Fire in Its Blood

Old West Iron began as more than just a business — it was a dream built on fire, steel, and family. Founded byLisa Kinzie,Jon Westerlund, andKeira Gneiting, and powered by the skilled hands ofArmy veterans Mitch and Jake, our company is the result of generations of hard work, craftsmanship, and a shared vision: to bring the artistry of historical ironwork back into everyday life.

For years, we ran a fast-paced operation in North San Diego County, taking on everything from large-scale ironwork to high-end commercial projects like The Grand Hotel Spa at Del Mar. But after decades in the trade — we felt the call to slow down, simplify, and focus on what we love most: creating unique, hard-to-find iron hardware that feels as authentic as it looks.

From The Forge to The Frontier

We left the rush of Southern California behind, moved our family and forge to a quiet ranch in Felt, Idaho, and never looked back. Nestled just across the Teton Mountains from Jackson Hole, we found a place that matched our values — rugged, self-reliant, and full of inspiration. Today, we serve customers around the world, but our roots are firmly planted in Teton Valley.

Decades of Experience in Craftsmanship and Historical Detail

Our work is built on years of hands-on blacksmithing, deep historical research, and a commitment to reviving lost designs. Our design team has been perfecting historically accurate ironwork styles since 2001, drawing directly from period references and architectural archives. We’ve gone to great lengths to ensure our hardware looks and feels like it came from centuries past — not just in shape, but in soul. Every piece is forged, hammered, and finished by hand, with the kind of small irregularities and marks that only real craftsmanship can leave behind.

This isn't Just a Brand, It’s the Way We Live

We didn’t build this business to follow trends. We built it to honor tradition, to serve customers who appreciate quality, and to carry forward a legacy of American ironwork that’s been nearly forgotten in a world of mass production.

When we’re not in the shop, you’ll find us out hunting, fishing, or exploring the backcountry — embracing the mountain lifestyle and Old West spirit that fuels our creativity.
