How It's Made:

Our flower head bolts are made from solid steel blanks, which ensures that each bolt is made in the the proper standard size and grade. Our blacksmiths heat the bolts in the forge until the metal is pliable enough to work with, then painstakingly hammer them into our signature flower shape. Once the bolts have cooled, our painter applies your chosen patina by hand.

Flower Head Bolts – Collection FAQs

1. What are flower head bolts used for?
Flower head bolts are decorative through-bolts designed for furniture, cabinetry, gates, timber framing, barn doors, and artisan woodworking projects where both strength and visual detailing matter.

2. How are these different from regular hex bolts?
Unlike standard hardware-store bolts, our flower head bolts feature sculpted, hand-detailed heads inspired by historic ironwork. They provide full structural performance with an ornamental, old-world finish.

3. How do I choose the correct bolt size?
Select a bolt long enough to pass completely through your material with additional length for washers and a nut. For visible installations, choose a head diameter that complements the scale of your timber, door, or furniture piece.

4. What finishes and textures are available?
Flower head bolts come in multiple finish options including matte black, oil-rubbed bronze, natural iron, and hand-distressed textures. Many designs are individually worked to achieve a forged, historic look.

5. Are these bolts hand-forged?
The threaded shafts are precision-machined for strength, while the decorative flower heads are hand-finished and textured by our American blacksmiths for authentic, period-correct character.

6. What are the lead times and where are they made?
Most orders ship within 1–10 business days depending on finish and quantity. All decorative and custom-finished flower head bolts are made or finished in the USA at our Idaho forge.
