Support Brackets & Hangers – Collection FAQs

1. What are support brackets and hangers used for?
Support brackets and hangers are used to reinforce shelves, mantels, beams, countertops, corbels, and timber-frame structures. They provide both structural strength and decorative detailing in rustic and heritage-style architecture.

2. How are your brackets different from standard hardware-store brackets?
Old West Iron brackets are made from thicker steel, feature cleaner welds, and include hand-applied textures and finishes. They offer superior strength and an authentic forged look—unlike lightweight, mass-produced imports.

3. How do I choose the right bracket size or weight capacity?
Match the bracket depth to the depth of your shelf or beam. For mantels and countertops, choose heavy-duty brackets with thicker steel or wider profiles. Always install brackets into solid wood or studs for maximum load support.

4. What finishes and textures are available?
Brackets and hangers are available in matte black, natural iron, oil-rubbed bronze, and a range of hand-distressed or hammered textures. These finishes are applied in-house to pair seamlessly with our bolts, screws, and rustic hardware.

5. Are your brackets hand-forged?
Bracket bodies are cut and formed for consistency, while many textures, edges, and finishes are hand-worked by our American blacksmiths. This creates the dimensional, old-world look customers expect from true wrought-iron accents.

6. What are the lead times and where are they made?
Most brackets and hangers ship within 1–10 business days, depending on size, finish, and customization. All decorative and custom-finished pieces are made or finished in the USA at our Idaho forge.
