We offer many styles and color options and we can customize any set of hardware to be a unique and one of a kind piece.

Sliding Barn Door Hardware – Collection FAQs

1. What kinds of doors typically use sliding barn door hardware?
This hardware is used on interior and exterior sliding doors, including barn doors, pantry doors, room dividers, closet doors, and large architectural openings where a traditional swing door isn’t practical.

2. How does Old West Iron sliding hardware differ from the common kits sold online?
Our hardware is built from thicker, high-grade steel with forged-style detailing and hand-applied finishes. Unlike lightweight imported kits, Old West Iron components offer real durability, smoother movement, and a historic, heirloom-quality look.

3. How do I know which sliding hardware kit will work with my door?
Measure your door’s weight, width, and height. Choose a track length at least twice the width of your door and ensure the rollers are rated to support the door’s weight. Confirm that your mounting surface—studs, blocking, or masonry—can support the load.

4. What finish and texture options are available for your barn door hardware?
Our hardware can be ordered in matte black, natural iron, oil-rubbed bronze, and several distressed textures. Hammered and antique finishes are applied by hand to coordinate with our hinges, pulls, clavos, and rustic iron collections.

5. Are any parts of your sliding systems hand-forged?
Yes. While track and structural components are precision-cut for alignment, many accents—roller brackets, decorative straps, rivet details, and textures—are hand-worked by our American blacksmiths for an authentic Old World appearance.

6. What should I expect for lead times, and where is the hardware made?
Most sliding barn door hardware ships within 1–10 business days, depending on finish and configuration. All decorative and custom-finished components are made or finished in the USA at our Idaho forge.
