Iron Frames – Collection FAQs

1. What are iron frames used for in doors and architectural projects?
Iron frames provide a durable, decorative border around cutouts, windows, grills, or speakeasy openings. They add strength to the door’s structure while giving it a finished, historically inspired look.

2. How do Old West Iron frames differ from basic trim rings or thin metal edging?
Our frames are made from heavier steel and finished by hand, giving them authentic depth, weight, and forged texture. They far exceed lightweight stamped rings in both durability and old-world appearance.

3. How do I choose the correct size iron frame for my installation?
Measure the exact dimensions of the cutout or window opening in your door or panel. Select a frame that fully overlaps the opening and aligns with your hardware layout. For new builds, choose a frame size that matches the scale and style of the door.

4. What finish and texture options are available for these frames?
Iron frames come in matte black, natural iron, oil-rubbed bronze, and multiple hand-distressed textures. Our hammered and antique finishes are applied in-house so the frames coordinate perfectly with grills, knockers, and other iron hardware.

5. Are your iron frames hand-forged or hand-finished?
The frame profiles are precision-cut for accuracy, but each piece is hand-worked—edges, textures, rivet-style details, and finishes—by our American blacksmiths, giving every frame genuine wrought-iron character.

6. What is the typical lead time, and where are the frames made?
Most iron frames ship within 1–10 business days, depending on size and finish. All decorative and custom-finished pieces are made or finished in the USA at our Idaho forge.
