Keep reading to learn how!

Comfort Items

When decorating for fall the kind of emotion people tend to aim for is cozy and content. Nothing can make you feel that more than making sure there's an assortment of comfort items within reach at all times. Here are some of our favorite options to add comfort to your home.

Throw Blankets

Nothing says fall like cuddling up with a warm, cozy blanket on the couch while watching your favorite movies. In addition to adding to the fall feel in your home, including throw blankets around your home can also help you stay warm as the weather changes and gets cooler.

Good throw blankets for fall tend to have more texture. Think knits, sherpa, fleece, and even tassels. The colors should be similar to the colors of nature in the fall. Oranges, yellows, reds, browns, and plaids are excellent options, although you can do a lot with neutrals as well if you're hesitant to include so many colors.

Throw Pillows

You'll of course need throw pillow options to go along with your assortment of blankets. There are limitless options to choose from for pillows.

Choose from solid fall colors or look for pillows with a more rustic or old-fashioned feel. There are also always a ton of options for pillows with cute fall scenes or quotes on them. These can help make your love of all things fall clear as day.

Candles

Candles are an excellent addition to really round out any comfortable and cozy atmosphere. As the days get shorter and it gets darker earlier, you'll need as much extra light as possible in your home. Candles are a great way to add extra soft lighting.

In addition to the relaxing soft light that they produce, candles can also help transport us through smell. Our sense of smell connects us to different emotions and memories more than any of our other senses. Light a fall-scented candle and feel the comfort and joy of falls past.

Rustic Designs

One of the most popular fall home decor trends is the rustic farmhouse style. The fall season makes people want to focus on slowing down and living a more simple life. Add in pieces with a rustic feel to help achieve this feeling.

Log Holder

If you have a fireplace in your home then you know that one of the best parts of fall is curling up in front of a crackling fire. Adding a decorative and functional iron log holder is a great way to add character, while also being sure you'll always have firewood on hand.

If you don't have a fireplace, or if you do and it doesn't require wood, you can instead use the log holder as purely decorative. Stack wood in it just for the aesthetic, or stack another fall themed decoration like pumpkins to create a fall focal point.

Reclaimed Wood Floating Shelves

Bringing pieces of nature inside, like with these hand-hewn floating shelves, is a great way to add even more rustic charm to your home. Put them up and decorate them using pumpkins, fall flowers, signs with quotes, and candles for a great fall feel.

Additionally, these are great because they're so versatile. You can update and redecorate them as the seasons change and they'll always go with that seasons vibe. Not a fan of the all wood aesthetic? Try an industrial metal shelf instead!

Iron Decorations

If you want to lean even more into the rustic feel, try focusing on decorations that are made out of materials like wood or iron. This wrought-iron pumpkin would make an excellent addition as a table centerpiece. It's an excellent example of blending the traditional fall seasonal decor with a rustic twist.

Seasonal Decorations

Along with your comfort items and the rustic charm you're adding to your home you may want to add in some extra seasonal decorations. There are some things that just scream fall as soon as you see them. Here are some of our favorite ways to do this.

Bring Nature Inside

Pumpkins are a classic, but there are so many other pieces of the outdoors that you can incorporate into your fall decor as well. To really bring all the glory of a fall day inside with you, consider adding stalks of wheat or cotton, fall flowers like chrysanthemums or sunflowers, apples, cranberries, and wood.

Get Spooky

What would fall be without Halloween? If you're inclined to celebrate, there are limitless options for both spooky and adorable Halloween decorations.

For those that lean more toward the spooky side of things, consider including things like fake spiderwebs, zombie motifs, and fake poison bottles in your decorations. But if you'd rather keep things lighter, there are many cute DIY ghost options available.

And for those that would rather skip Halloween altogether, don't worry. There are plenty of Thanksgiving home decor products as well!
