Whether you're designing a rustic homestead, a historic restoration, or a modern home with classic detailing, our ironwork adds richness and authenticity that mass-produced hardware simply can’t match.

Perfect for adding character and historical charm to entry doors and custom builds.

• Cabinet Knobs, Drawer Pulls & Cup Handles

Small details that transform hutches, consoles, built-ins, and furniture pieces.

• Barn Door Handles & Iron Rings

Bold, durable, and made to stand up to everyday use on sliding barn doors and large gates.

• Latches, Cane Bolts & Functional Hardware

Built for reliability and styled to match rustic, traditional, or old-world interiors.

• Decorative Iron Strapping

Available in smooth, hammered, embossed, or riveted designs — perfect for doors, beams, cabinets, and furniture accents.

Understanding Strap Types

Each style of iron strap serves a specific purpose, both visually and functionally:

• Hinge Straps

These feature one decorative end and one flat end, echoing the look of a working hinge. Ideal for historic doors, gates, and restoration work.

• Straight Straps

Decorative on both ends, these are perfect for centering, joining surfaces, or adding symmetry and visual interest.

• Rustic Metal Straps

Clean, understated designs offered in hammered, embossed, or riveted textures — versatile enough for furniture, interior doors, or architectural accents.

• Extra-Large Strap Hinges & Oversized Ironwork

Designed for heavy doors, large gates, timber-frame structures, and standout architectural features.

FAQPage

What is the "other vendors" section? Do those products still ship from your shop?

These products are made by other small blacksmith shops whom we've partnered with. This allows them to make more sales and promote their work more widely, and it allows us to offer a wider variety of styles to our clients, including copper, brass, and bronze. Items in the Other Vendors section will ship directly from our partners, not from our Idaho shop. Most of these vendors are located in the US, but we do have a small number of partners in the UK and Canada. Any products that ship internationally will have this written in the product description.

I'm buying hardware for an exterior door/gate, which finishes are best for outdoor use?

Most of our finishes do well outdoors, but we don't recommend using gunmetal, wrought iron, or raw/unfinished outside unless you're okay with rust. You can see all of our options in our texture and finish guide.  If you'd like to see our finishes in person, you can buy sample pieces here.

What kinds of fasteners do you recommend for installation?

We do not recommend the use of clavos for installation, but our wood screws, lags, or bolts should be sufficient, depending on your application. We recommend using fasteners that are at least 3/8" in diameter for functioning hinges on heavy doors.

My door is very heavy, will this hardware hold up?

Our functioning hinge straps are designed for heavy loads, over 200lbs. That said, it's always smart to speak with an authority on your project if available, and reach out to our team via office@oldwestiron.com if you have a truly oversized door to support.

What's the difference between a faux hinge strap and a functioning hinge strap?

A faux hinge strap is decorative and does not have a hinge or any structural applications. A functioning hinge strap does have a working hinge and is designed to open, close, and support your door.
