All Thread – Collection FAQs
1. What is all thread used for?
All thread (threaded rod) is used for structural connections, timber framing, custom hardware builds, furniture construction, and applications where long, continuous threading is needed for nuts and washers on both ends.
2. How is your all thread different from standard hardware-store threaded rod?
Old West Iron all thread is made from higher-grade steel with cleaner, deeper threads and more consistent tolerances. Our rods pair properly with our decorative nuts, washers, and forged hardware—unlike light-duty imports.
3. How do I choose the right diameter and length of all thread?
Match the diameter to the hardware or structural load you’re working with. Length depends on your timber or material thickness; choose a rod long enough to pass through the full assembly and leave room for washers and nuts on both sides.
4. What finish options are available?
All thread can be ordered in natural steel, matte black, and hand-applied rustic or antique finishes. These coatings help the rod blend with exposed beams, rustic hardware, or historic restorations.
5. Is your all thread hand-forged?
Threaded rods themselves are machine-formed for strength and precision, but all decorative finishes and textures are applied in-house by our American blacksmiths to match our bolts, nuts, and washers.
6. What are the lead times and where is your all thread made?
Most orders ship within 1–10 business days depending on finish and rod length. All decorative and custom-finished all thread is made or finished in the USA at our Idaho forge.
