I am looking at using your 3/8 inch or 1/2 inch hammered hex lag bolt to mount a barn door ledger board for a large (200lb) barn door. I will be using 2 bolts on every stud over a 14 foot span. The width of the ledger board is 1 3/4" inch plus 7/8" drywall. Can you recommend if the 3/8" or 1/2" lag bolt is preferred and will a bolt in 3 1/2" or 4" be preferred. Lastly how many days would it take to receive these in Southern California. Thank you Robert

Hey there, I do not work for the Old West Company, I am just merely a customer so I am not sure how I came to receive your question. As a Professional Design Builder I’d say always go bigger when it comes to needing strength, the cost is not much more for piece of mind reassurance. I’d recommend using washers the bolt as well and yes the 3 1/2 should do the job for you :)

Hi Robert, For a lag, I would suggest the 1/2". If you want a bolt, I would suggest the 3/8". I just want to clarify since we get this mistake a lot - the Lags are screws (pointed tip), the bolts are threaded to receive a nut. The product page you asked this question on is a bolt. I want to make sure you order the correct product. As far as lead time, I would expect about 5-7 business days to receive depending on the size of the order.

No order is too small. I see that you are looking at the 1/4" hex bolts, so you would need the 1/4" nuts, and either our 1/4" USS washers or you could order our decorative washer with a 1/4" hole.
