Anchor Plates – Collection FAQs

1. What are anchor plates used for?
Anchor plates secure structural beams, posts, and framing members to foundations, walls, or other structural surfaces. They provide a strong, stable connection point while adding a distinctive architectural iron detail.

2. How are your anchor plates different from standard hardware-store versions?
Old West Iron anchor plates are made from thicker steel, cut with precise accuracy, and finished with forged-style textures. Unlike thin galvanized brackets, ours offer both real structural performance and the authentic Old World character of traditional ironwork.

3. How do I choose the right size anchor plate?
Measure the beam or post you’re anchoring and select a plate that is proportional in width and length. For load-bearing installations, choose heavier gauge steel and ensure your fasteners match the product’s pre-drilled hole diameters.

4. What finishes and textures are available?
Anchor plates are offered in matte black, natural iron, oil-rubbed bronze, and hand-distressed finishes. Hammered, peened, and antique textures are applied in-house to blend seamlessly with our straps, bolts, washers, and timber hardware.

5. Are these anchor plates hand-forged?
The plates themselves are precision-cut for uniform strength, while edges, rivet details, textures, and finishes are hand-applied by our American blacksmiths. This creates the rugged, historic appearance associated with true wrought iron.

6. What are the lead times and where are they made?
Most anchor plates ship within 1–10 business days, depending on finish, size, and customization. All decorative and custom-finished pieces are made or finished in the USA at our Idaho forge.
