Threaded Square Bar – Collection FAQs
1. What is threaded square bar used for?
Threaded square bar is used for structural joinery, custom fabrication, timber framing, furniture building, and decorative hardware projects where a squared profile is preferred for both strength and visual style.
2. How is threaded square bar different from round bar or all thread?
Square bar provides increased grip and a distinct architectural look. Unlike all thread, only the ends are threaded—giving you a smooth, squared center section ideal for visible installations, decorative brackets, and custom hardware builds.
3. How do I choose the correct size and threading length?
Select the square bar thickness based on your load requirements. Threading should be long enough to accommodate washers, nuts, and connection depth without bottoming out. For exposed applications, choose a bar size that visually matches the scale of your beams or hardware.
4. What finishes and textures are available?
Threaded square bar can be ordered in matte black, natural steel, oil-rubbed bronze, or hand-distressed rustic finishes. Each finish is applied in-house to match Old West Iron’s decorative nuts, washers, and forged hardware.
5. Is the square bar hand-forged?
The bar itself is machine-formed to ensure precise dimensions and clean threading, while decorative finishes and textures are hand-applied by our American blacksmiths for an authentic, historic look.
6. What are the lead times and where is it made?
Most threaded square bar ships within 1–10 business days, depending on finish, threading length, and order size. All decorative and custom-finished bars are made or finished in the USA at our Idaho forge.
