Convincing and economical wrought iron hardware

I really liked the Tuscan Villa Iron Washer. The second project was to better secure a broken side-door widow in my 1928 Tudor-style home. My spouse did not want the “jail bars” of a speak-easy on the window. So, I decided to purchase a wrought iron baluster with a Tuscan “S” to traverse the 15” vertical opening and create a little more deterrent for any opportunist thinking of breaking that window to reach inside and open the door. I ordered the baluster from StairWarehouse.com. I cut the excess rod and rounded the edges with my DeWalt angle grinder and Craftsman drill sanding head. I drilled ¼” diameter holes through the baluster and then all of the way through our thick wooden door, where I inserted my Old West Iron black bolts. I used the Tuscan Villa washers on the exterior and round clean washers on the interior with acorn nuts to cover the bolt ends. The project came out as well as I could have hoped and the parts met my expectation. A tiny bit of product feedback here is that the only item that did not meet my expectation was the acorn nuts (not expensive), which ruptured surprisingly easily when they were tightened upon the bolt. Thank you Old West Iron. I like your style. I expect I will do business with you again on future projects requiring period looking wrought iron finishes. And, secretly I was admiring one of your mixed-style door knockers that you had on clearance for a while ; - ) I think it would look terrific on our front door, but now I just have to convince my spouse ; - ) I hope your business thrives while meeting this niche market need for folks like me and my son.

Convincing and economical wrought iron hardware

My son and I were working on two projects concurrently early this summer for which we needed economical authentic-looking period wrought iron hardware. I found Old West Iron online with reasonable pricing, great variety and finishing options. The second project was to better secure a broken side-door widow in my 1928 Tudor-style home.
