Clevis Rod Ends – Collection FAQs

1. What are clevis rod ends used for?
Clevis rod ends are used to connect threaded rod to structural components, brackets, gates, pergolas, timber frames, and tension systems. They allow pivoting movement while creating a strong, reliable connection point.

2. How are your clevis rod ends different from standard hardware-store versions?
Old West Iron clevises are made from heavier steel with tighter pin tolerances and cleaner machining. They’re built for structural strength and offer optional rustic finishes that pair with our decorative hardware.

3. How do I choose the right size clevis rod end?
Match the thread size of the clevis to your rod diameter. Then choose a clevis width and pin size that properly fits your bracket or connection point. Larger clevises are ideal for heavier timber or load-bearing applications.

4. How do clevis rod ends install?
Thread the clevis onto your rod, position the clevis around your bracket or hardware, and secure it with the included pin. Ensure full thread engagement and confirm the clevis pivots smoothly without excessive play.

5. What finish and texture options are available?
Clevis rod ends can be ordered in natural steel, matte black, oil-rubbed bronze, or hand-distressed rustic finishes. These finishes are applied in-house to match our turnbuckles, threaded rod, washers, and forged hardware.

6. What are the lead times and where are they made?
Most clevis rod ends ship within 1–10 business days, depending on size and finish. All decorative and custom-finished hardware is made or finished in the USA at our Idaho forge.
