  • Mounting screws (included with most fixtures)

Ceiling-Mounted Lighting Installation (Chandeliers, Pendants, Flush Mounts)

Step 1: Prep the Junction Box
Ensure your ceiling electrical box is securely mounted and rated for the weight of your fixture—especially for heavy iron chandeliers. Test wires with a voltage tester before handling.

Step 2: Install the Mounting Bracket
Use the provided bracket and screws to secure the base to the junction box. Be sure it's level and centered before proceeding.

Step 3: Connect the Wires
Match fixture wires to ceiling wires:

  • Black to black (hot)

  • White to white (neutral)

  • Green or bare copper to ground

Secure connections with wire nuts and tuck them into the box.

Step 4: Mount the Fixture
Lift the fixture into place and attach it to the bracket using the provided hardware. For chain-hung fixtures, adjust the chain to the proper drop length before wiring.

Step 5: Add Bulbs and Test
Once mounted, screw in bulbs, restore power at the breaker, and flip the switch.

Wall-Mounted Lighting Installation (Sconces, Vanity Fixtures)

Step 1: Mark the Mounting Location
Measure the height—most sconces are installed 60"–66" from the floor, or about eye level. Mark your centerline for even placement.

Step 2: Secure the Mounting Plate
Install the mounting plate onto the wall junction box. Check that it’s level before tightening fully.

Step 3: Connect the Wires
As with ceiling fixtures, match black to black, white to white, and ground to ground. Secure with wire nuts and carefully tuck the wires into the box.

Step 4: Attach the Fixture to the Plate
Align the fixture with the mounting screws or bolts and secure tightly. Make sure the sconce sits flush against the wall.

Step 5: Install Bulbs and Test
Insert the recommended bulbs, flip the breaker back on, and enjoy the glow.

Choosing Between Ceiling and Wall Fixtures

Here’s when to choose one over the other:

Ceiling Lighting Wall Lighting
Ideal for general room lighting Best for accent or task lighting
Great for foyers, dining rooms Perfect for hallways, bathrooms
Adds drama and height Adds warmth and depth
Often heavier & more visible Easier to install at eye level

For the perfect layered lighting effect, use both—a bold ceiling fixture to illuminate the space, and wall sconces to soften it.
