Hammered Ball Head Lag
Our HCL-03 Hammered Ball head lag has a unique look that lends itself to a rugged industrial look. If you will be ordering the Raw finish please keep in mind the unfinished color of this item is raw metal and typically looks darker like a wrought iron finish with possible silver tints in the sunlight.

- Due to the spherical shape of the head of the lag, it is very difficult to drive these lags into the wall with a socket or wrench
- Wrap the head of the bolt in a thick cloth or spare leather
- Use a pipe wrench or pliers to twist the lag into place

- Raw: Metal is left untreated. Recommended for those wanting to add their own finish or wanting a natural rust finish.
- Black: The item is painted flat black. We recommend this option for items with no texturing and for outdoor use.
- Oil Rubbed Bronze: A bronze wax/sealer is rubbed on gently, leaving a bronze color to the high points of the metal where the lows will remain black. Recommended for hammered or distressed textures.
- Pewter: A pewter wax/sealer is rubbed on gently, leaving the silver-ish peweter color on the hight points of the metal and the lows will be black. Recommended for hammered of distressed textures.
- Aged Bronze: A bronze wax/sealer is applied to the piece and gently wiped away. This finish leaves the high points of the metal black and the low points a bronze color. Recommended for hammered or distressed items.
- Aged Pewter: A pewter wax/sealer is applied to the piece and gently wiped away. This finish leaves the high points of the metal black and the low points a silver-ish pewter color. Recommended for hammered or distressed items.
- Rusty Metal Patina: This finish leaves a burgandy/orange color of rust on the low points of the piece. It looks best when selected with a hammered or distressed texture
- Gunmetal: This is an acid finish leaving hints of blues and browns. The coloring abosrbs into the metal making it more scratch resistant (Good for high use items). Not recommended for outdoor use
- This is an acid finish turning the metal blackish. The coloring abosrbs into the metal making it more scratch resistant (Good for high use items). Not recommended for outdoor use

Small threads.
The ball part is beautiful but the threads are tiny and not very sharp. They could use a little more aggressive threads.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We’re glad to hear that you find the ball part beautiful; however, we appreciate your input regarding the threads. Your insight is invaluable, and we will certainly look into ways to improve the sharpness and aggressiveness of the threads.

More of an Accent Piece
Hi, I absolutely love the screws. In order to not damage the finish I wrapped Self Gripping Bandage around the teeth of a pliers. I was able to grip and hold the screw head while screwing them in (after drilling pilot holes). I purchased a piece of Spalted Maple online from CurlyMapleWood.com. I then accented that piece by framing it in Walnut and installed it with your screws. They really made a room accent piece more of an accent piece.

Small details sure do make a big impact on a finished space! Typically we suggest to cover the heads with work gloves or similar material, but we always like hearing what customers come up with. Different install methods work better for some people, so thank you for letting us know how you did it and I'm sure someone will find this helpful!

The perfect wreath hanger!
We often have wreaths hanging on the double front doors and since we were restoring the 120-year-old doors, we decided to also replace the two miscellaneous screws which we had been using with something which would make a statement at those times when the wreaths are briefly absent. The 1" Hammered Ball Head Lag screw centered at the correct height on each door and painted Honorable Blue to match the color of the door certainly does the trick. The screws are solid, well made, and pretty much a piece of art on their own, especially in Honorable Blue!
