7 Key Elements to creating a Farmhouse style kitchen

Farmhouse Kitchens, whether you like the timeless classic farmhouse look, the trendy modern farmhouse style, the rustic farmhouse look, or the European farmhouse style. They all incorporate some of the same key elements.

Clean and functional yet homey and warm, farmhouse kitchens are all the rage, and its no wonder why. An open farm style kitchen is the perfect spot to entertain and spend time with family. There are many ways to add some farmhouse charm to a kitchen, read on for 7 key elements to creating a farmhouse style kitchen.

Open Shelving

Every kitchen needs storage, farmhouse style kitchens tend to incorporate open shelving, which can look nice when done right. To implement a farmhouse look rather than a modern look, use thick wood slabs and iron corbels for the shelving. For a traditional, bold farmhouse look, pipe corbels can achieve a pieced together, repurposed style. Alternatively, you could give your kitchen a European twist with some scrolled corbels such as the 324 – Roman Acanthus. Or keep it simple for a modern farmhouse effect with iron corbels such as 301-Tuscan or 309- Bean. To add organization, or just some décor - wicker baskets, unique jars and other storage can help. Storing other knickknacks, cookbooks, or a plant or two can give a little life to the shelf. You could also use them as storage for larger appliances such as stand mixers, pressure cookers, etc . to prevent clutter on the countertops.
