The process involves "upsetting" the end to increase mass, drawing out the bar to double its length, and forming a fan shape that is then rolled into the cup. After shaping and bending, the result is a unique, organic candlestick with twists and curves reminiscent of a lily. By using iron as the material, this piece pays tribute to the early Iron Age smiths who likely worked on similar projects in their spare time. The finish is achieved through a vigorous brushing and clear coat enamel, resulting in a one-of-a-kind piece that has kept the maker company over the past few days.
