When your exterior door faces the elements—or just heavy foot traffic—it deserves more than a flimsy aluminum shield. A kick plate with a drip edge adds serious protection to the bottom of your door while enhancing its look with bold, forged style.

At Old West Iron, we offer handcrafted kick plates built from durable steel, copper, and iron with optional drip edges that channel water away from your threshold. Whether you're outfitting a rustic cabin, storefront, or modern farmhouse, this detail can make all the difference in longevity and appearance.

What Is a Kick Plate Drip Edge?

A kick plate protects the lower portion of a door from scuffs, dents, and daily abuse. A drip edge is an added lip or curve at the bottom of the plate that redirects rainwater away from the door base, helping to prevent rot, rust, and swelling.

Combining both features gives you:

  • Surface protection from boots, tools, and pets

  • Water control for wood or composite doors

  • A polished, finished look that elevates your entry

  • Compatibility with exterior and storm doors

Built to Last—and Look Good Doing It

Our kick plates with drip edges are:

  • Available in steel, copper, and wrought iron

  • Offered in a range of finishes: matte black, raw steel, rust patina, sealed copper

  • Custom-sized to fit any standard or oversized door

  • Pre-drilled for easy installation or available undrilled for custom placement

You can even match your kick plate to your hinges, clavos, or door handle set for a seamless look.
