I have built numerous historical (replicas) wood project for many years using traditional wood working tools and was always on the lookout for affordable square headed bolts and lags. Old West has them at affordable prices and almost limitless size selections. They are exactly the same as the originals manufactured up to WW ll. As an additional plus, staff was exceptionally helpful during my phone order and it was a pleasure to speak with a human who knew the product line. Many Thanks from a new lifetime customer. First, this company was great to work with. They were responsive and my mistake in ordering confirmed they are extremely fair with their return policy. Second, it is worth noting this is one of only a very few companies that offer really nice architectural hardware with a customization approach. I searched the interweb a considerable amount of time. Be aware of the scheduling for customized items and make your plans early. They provide a flow sheet for timing from order to delivery so use it. Old West Iron will be my go to on my contacts list for any future custom hardware. I highly recommend you visit their website and click around on all they have to offer.

United States3" Outside Corner Angle Iron, Smooth with offset holes and hardware
From initial call to end product - team was fantastic. I called - not truly knowing what I wanted, and, they coached me through it on the phone. Offered ideas and alternatives. Worked to cut a custom size. Called back same day and next day just to ensure alignment. I am in Southeast PA, and we don't have groups near that have the authenticity of these products (at least that I was able to find). Highly recommended group to work with.

My wife wanted no sag brackets for her book shelves. I found some heavy duty brackets and needed some bolts with the same look. Love how they look. It’s hard to find these bolts. Thanks for making them!

Square head lag bolts are difficult to find anywhere. These are well-made replicas of the old mission hardware bolts and pair well with the 1/4" washers. They look strong as well. Hope that they are.

United States1/4" dia. Smooth Square Head Lag Screws
Nice product. Paint comes off very easily. Maybe consider powder coating. Might add to cost but would be worth it I believe. These small items can be done in a small oven.

Thank you for your suggestion, we stay away from powder coating especially on the hardware, since any scratch or crack jeopardizes the finish and once the powder coated, it has to be sandblasted off to refinish. We prefer paint since it can easily be touched up with Rustoleum flat black paint.

Look to be excellent quality bolts. Just the right touch for a museum building repair. Would suggest that such small purchases be sent by much more affordable means like a first class letter. $3 worth of bolts but $10 shipping is forever more beyond the pale. Please be aware how brutal your shipping charges can be.

is the length listed for lag screws just for threaded part or does it also include depth of the head?

Sorry, novice here. Do you screw these in with a wrench and to keep from scratching the bolt, would you put a thin piece of cloth between the wrench head and the bolt to prevent scratching?

Hello! So we usually recommend to predrill then screw them in by hand but if the socket is the exact size it can be done without scratching the head. Otherwise if you prefer using the drill with a larger socket and a piece of cloth between the two that would definitely help!
