United StatesNeeded to prevent “cupping”
Most of the corbels I saw were used to support downward force from the weight of counter tops. We have a custom Red Oak island counter made from a tree right on our property. The fresh wood was harvested only 10 months prior to installation. As a result, the 2” thick counter was curving upward, cupping, as it acclimated to the house. The Tuscan corbel has the strength and design to withstand the upward pull from the wood’s cupping effect. In addition to function, the look and design is a great aesthetic compliment to our home decor.
