Thank you for reaching out! I’d be happy to explain how the castle latch works.
The castle latch operates by using a simple mechanism that allows you to securely lock and unlock doors. Typically, it consists of a latch bolt that is activated by a handle or knob. To open the door, you simply lift the handle, which retracts the latch bolt, allowing the door to swing open. When closed, the latch automatically engages to secure the door.

I was sent your question, but being a customer has no idea if they make it larger strange they sent question to, me. But I like this size for the Tomten gnome house. Super cute and functional. I recommend putting poly on it if you’re going to use it outside.

Q:
Could this be mounted horizontally to secure the two halves of a Dutch door? Thanks.

A:
I think you could. You would likely have to mount it with the hinged (leaf) piece on the bottom so the weight of the handle doesn't open it.
